old wall hanging - new chalkboard decoration

I found this old wall hanging painted an ugly green. I think it is made for a calender to hang on? Anyway, the first thing I thought of was CHALKBOARD!!! So I bought it and painted the main part with Valspar chalkboard paint. I then covered that part with tape and newspaper and spraypainted the rest Ivory. After it dried, I sanded the edges and rubbed stain on the edges and anywhere that I wanted it to look antiqued. It is hanging by my front door and is great for keys to hang on and REMINDERS! I am so glad I spent the four dollars! :)

book shelf re-do

I found this darling cubical book shelf and instantly knew it would be great for my son's BOOKS! All I had to do was spray paint it! Now he has a neat organized book shelf in his room and it doesn't take up very much space.

Blackboard/markerboard Easel Re-do

I found this wooden easel in pretty good condition, it just needed a little work. I took off each board and spray painted the wooden easel turquoise blue. Then I spray painted the old green chalkboard black using Valspar's Chalkboard spray paint. It is so easy to use. I gave it two coats. Then all the marker-board needed was a good scrub with Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. (Love those!) It took all the old crayon marks right off.  

I am really happy with how it turned out! The best part is, if my two year old accidently colors on the easel part, I can just spray a little turquoise paint over it, and I can re-do the black board if I ever need to. This project was super fun!

Old paper towel holder- new ribbon spool

I found this old paper towel holder and spray painted it, sanded a few edges, and attached this cute metal decal. It is perfect for my craft room and serves as decor and as a useful ribbon spool. This project was so fun! (I am always seeing all different kinds of these paper towel holders at DI).

old bench

I just LOVE this old bench. It reminds me of primary. I knew it would be fun to have in my son's room, under the window. All I had to do was disinfect it. If I ever decide to paint it, I will post pictures- but for now, I love the original paint with the naturally distressed edges. The hardest part was fitting it in my car. :)

photo frame redo

Where is the before picture? I made this one before I started this blog, so I had no reason to take a picture of the ugly frame. But I do want to share it with you and maybe you will buy the next ugly frame you see. :) I loved how chunky this frame is and thought with some new paint, it might be a keeper. I spray painted it with chocolate brown and sanded the edges, the frame had plexi glass in it so I replaced it with real glass from another old frame. I love how this turned out!

Old bread box- kitchen decor

I found this old bread box and loved it right away. Not only is it functional for our bread that always seems to be left on the counter, but I love the stenciled letters with the wheat. Really, all it needed was a good disinfecting. Then I put it on the counter next to our flour, oats, and sugar cannisters.  A cute combo. For some reason, this bread box makes me want to make homemade bread.

rocking-chair redo

I love this little rocking-chair, and knew it would be perfect for my son's room. The white isn't bad, but I wanted to make it more bold and also, the white seemed a little femminine in his room. I used spray paint and sanded a few edges. How cute is this lime green?

Fruit crate- photo book holder

I found this old fruit crate and loved it immediately. Once again, I was not exactly sure what I would do with it, but it didn't take me long to find something that fit perfectly. My 12x12 digital photo albums! The crate fits perfectly under a desk- which is cute because you can see it, without it taking up any real space. I hope to eventually fill this up with books, and hey if there is a fire, I will just grab my crate and run for it. :)

I put a fresh coat of white spray paint over it, and sanded a few edges. (The before pic was only before I put the books in it. I got too excited and painted it before I took a pic).

old shelves- new jewelry box

At first I wasn't sure what to do with this, but I knew I wanted it. I love the chunkiness of it. So, I decided to get some real use out of it and make a little place for my jewelry.

I put crackle paint over it, let it dry and then used some brown paint we have leftover from our Kitchen. (Moose Point) After the paint dried, I sanded a few edges, and drilled hooks into the top to hang my necklaces on.
